Exhibition "Church - Monastery - Empress" in the Monastery Klosterneuburg

In the monastery Klosterneuburg we have photographed the current exhibition "Church - Monastery - Empress".

In 2017 the Klosterneuburg Monastery of the Order of the Augustinian Canons presents an exibition about the many close links between the church and the imperial family, which, particularly during Maria Theresia’s reign, passed their high point as the early Enlightenment period began to establish itself.  The main emphasis is on the textile art of beautifully embroidered sacred vestments. Throughout the Austro-Hungarian Empire, sacred textiles which go back to Maria Theresa's foundations have been preserved.  Some of them are now on display at the imperial apartments at Klosterneuburg Monastery.
